Hi Kanwar,
Overall we were very impressed with the speed
and coverage of the service. From our
perspective it would completely change our
working habits if we had a fast laptop &
were allowed to use it under Citigorup network
constraints.
TRIAL: We conducted about 20-25 trials at
a number of different CBD locations and
environments (e.g. ground floor Pitt St offices
to 41st floor offices of Challenger [ABN Amro
building]). We also tested the service in
Mosman, Wollahra & in a car travelling at
60-70km/h.
COVERAGE: Very impressive especially
given the limited number of base stations. I
don't think there was one occassion where we
were unable to get the iBurst service.
SPEED: Again very impressive. We used a
combination of Bandwidthlpace.com and
DUmeter.com together with the iBurst speed
monitor and our own experience of downloading
MByte files. Overall speeds ranged from 150kb/s
up to 1Mb/s - however I think on average the
speed was probably around 300-500kb/s. So in
most cases we were able to stream video from ABC
broadband sites or down load movie trailers from
movie sites. Also downloading large files was on
average very quick. In one surprising test I
even had video streaming in a car travelling at
70km/h!!!!!
CONTRAINTS: The major frustrations we had
with the service were more to do with the age of
our laptop (took 5 mins to log in!) and in some
instances bottlenecks in the Internet in terms
of backhaul to certain sites!
OVERALL SCORE: 8/10

John,
I thought you'd like to know how useful the
iBurst Wireless connection was today. I was
off-site at a conference when I received word
that the St.George internet banking website was
being subjected to another fraud attack through
bogus emails that redirected customers to a
fraudulent website where customers may have
compromised their details.
By logging on through iBurst I was able to
communicate with all the St.George folk who were
marshaled to deal with this emergency. Without
having to travel back to the office I was able
to manage the issue and communicate with all
that 'needed to know" without fuss. The
connection, within Sydney CBD, was efficient,
fast, connection was made within a few seconds
and there was absolute no trouble with the link.
Web refreshes were speedy. All in all, I could
not have asked for anything more from the iBurst
service. A few people at the conference were
highly envious when they inquired how I had
connected and when I told them of the speed of
the connection.
Best wishes,
John

Kanwar,
iBurst significantly improved the
productivity of my life during my 2.5 month
business and holiday trip in Sydney.
Unlike with any other ISP, I didn't have to
hassle with cables at home or the office or
worry about having to go to an Internet cafe to
get connected when I was out of my home or
office. I could rely on iBurst at any time or
place in Sydney: checking email from my living
room in front of the TV, to reading news on the
patio of my deck while I enjoyed the sun and
view of the Harbor, to searching for recipes
while cooking in my kitchen, to booking flights
for my holidays from a cafe in Paddington, to
studying from my friend's flat in Randwick. With
the comfort of knowing that I had iBurst, I
could more effectively work or plan my personal
tasks everyday regardless of my location or time
of day (ie., thinking that I have to wait until
I get to the office the next day to check on the
status of my FedEx shipment or having to only
check email from a single location in my home).
Especially when I was on holiday, I had the
peace of mind knowing that iBurst was there when
I needed to quickly access the Web.
Most importantly, iBurst improved my
lifestyle while I was Sydney.

Elsa & Stacey,
I have provisioned myself as a trial user.
THIS ROCKS! I love it.
I am going to ask a blunt question!! Is there
any chance of getting 2 more trial user
packs?
The productivity and stress removal of this
technology is so great.
Cheers,

Jonathan,
Just a quick note to say thank you... I have
enjoyed using it immensely and have been the
envy of both my workmates and clients.
The original card you gave me died but the
Helpdesk were very responsive and swapped it for
another within 24 hours. Since then the card has
been 100% reliable.
I have used it extensively at home (Henley)
where the reception has been mostly Orange. This
mid range reception is much faster than my
dial-up link and only fractionally slower than
my ADSL service at home.
I have also used it extensively in town while
doing demos to my customers. In buildings I have
had mostly Green coverage. Here in the office, I
have green or Orange reception.
On a rating of 1-10 I would give the service
about an 8.5 taking into account the limited
infrastructure currently deployed.
Kind regards,
Ian

Kanwar,
Just to let you know the service has been
fine to date. I have had no problems with
reception even around the Glebe area from inside
buildings and out to Five Dock.
No problems to report from North Sydney. I
have received good reception around North Sydney
with broadband type feel. The signal indicator
shows around 95% most places I've been.
Reception for the inner west of Sydney at
Strathfield has also been reasonable. The
indicator shows 60% and surfs the net quite
well. I really like the fast logging on process
which is almost as fast as Telstra BigPond
cable…sure beats GPRS.
Thank you &
regards,
John

Kanwar,
Our 4 week experience with the iBurst mobile
wireless technology being deployed by Personal
Broadband within the trial coverage area has
been very encouraging. The data throughput is
superior to GPRS and enables enterprise
applications to be remotely accessible.
Corporates, after using the service, will wonder
how they survived with out it.
Cheers,

Greetings Kanwar,
I lent the iBurst card to our Infrastructure
Manager Thursday/Friday last week. He went to
Ryde and connected at 1Mbps.
Jerry, the IT Manager, went home ill on
Monday and took the card. He connected back to
work Monday & Tuesday via a VPN from
Leichardt at 1Mbps.
I have the card back, been testing and
showing it off to different departments
throughout the company.
Both the Infrastructure and IT Manager are
very impressed with the concept and service.
They would like to discuss with you the benefits
the service could provide to our
customers.

Hi Kanwar,
Just a brief note to provide you with some
early feedback:
“I believe that this is the silver bullet
for mobile solutions and wireless
access”
“I have presented the technology to a
number of sales groups in Fujitsu to understand
if it is relevant and also how it can be a
revenue stream for Fujitsu. In all cases the
sales teams have been excited by the opportunity
and were immediately able to spot
opportunities”
“This is going to happen and our
customers will demand it”
“Whatever is developed here can be
packaged and released around the world as
similar networks are installed”
“I have received the modem and installed
it in 3 minutes. Will trial it on my travels
over the next week –but the response is
stunning”
“I have the device up and running on my
tablet –will take it on the streets over the
next few days and then hand over to others to
progress. Still excited!”
“Customer feedback has been positive in
all instances and they have identified more
opportunities from within their businesses for
this technology”
Our industry has become very cynical about 'slideware' and a demonstration on the live
network is certainly generating lots of customer
interest.

Jonathan,
After the initial issues were resolved on the
Acer platform related to the exclusive use of
interrupts settings, I found the PBA mobile data
solution an invaluable resource for my day to
day business. As a consultant working in many
varied environments, the freedom and convenience
of having immediate access to high speed
Internet access and hence my work resources back
in the office such as email and VPN have proved
to be difficult to be without now the evaluation
is complete.
My personal use of the service included
immediate access to email and Internet resources
and also Internet access for ad-hoc customer
demonstrations of our business solutions in
locations such as coffee shops and cafes.
I was pleasantly surprised with the coverage
areas provided by the service. Every location in
North Sydney and CBD proved to have a strong
signal strength and I did not notice any drop
outs of service.

Hi Kanwar,
Below is my feedback on iBurst. I have used
it from my offices, a customer’s reception area,
during meetings and breaks in meetings.
It allows me to have access to my emails for
reading, composing and forwarding, just as if I
was in the office on a wired LAN connection.
The speed of the service at up to 1 Mbps has
allowed me to use it as I would normally use a
LAN in the office for emails & downloading
files. Something I would consider as the single
access solution alternative for a LAN, a dial up
line and a home broadband connection to email
and the internet.
When the coverage is expanded it will provide
me with access where I work, where I live, where
I meet customers and where I travel which will
make it the ideal network connectivity solution
when you are the mobile worker.
Simply put, iBurst is a single solution for
portable computer connectivity for a world on
the move.

Peter
